Camcorder Panasonic Ccd
question on panasonic camcorder NVGS-57 ?
i am planninng to buy a panasonic camcorder. i ahve zeroed on two models NVGS-57 and NVGS-180. 57 has optical zoom of 30x whereas the 180 has 10x but with a CCD lens. i am buying for home and family viewing purpose esp for my 2 yr old daughter ? can anyone advise me the best option between these two video cameras
I am not familiar with those camcorders so I am going to go off the facts you gave me.
In my experience (as I record for home use also), anything more than 10X zoom is too much. Beyond that it becomes very difficult to keep the camcorder steady, unless it is on a tripod. At zoom distances over 10X it really amplifies the shakes/jitters and ruins the footage when you watch it on your TV.
On the other hand, if you having extra to spare isn’t a bad idea so I wouldn’t neccesarily rule out either camcorder based on the amount of zoom. I suggest paying attention to the image quality.
You mentioned the 10X camcorder had a CCD, which processes the colors and light coming in through the lens. Compare the specifications of both. Typically, a camcorder with a larger CCD will have better image quality. Does one have a bigger CCD? You can search around online for reviews of the two camcorders and find out the pros and cons of each.
In the end, I would opt for one that produced a sharper image.
