Besides the nikon D90, any other SLR cameras with HD video capture? Also thoughts on the d90?

Hello, I am getting my first SLR camera. I would also like to have a camera that can take videos. I do have a camcorder, but I want to be able to take high quality videos with my SLR camera as well. So far I have only found the nikon D90 that can do this, is there any other SLR that can do this?

If not, please share your thoughts on the nikon D90.

The new Canon EOS 5D Mark II can also record videos and are able to capture in even higher resolution than the Nikon D90, also demanding a much higher price tag than the D90.

The D90 records in resolutions of 720p HD while the EOS 5D Mark II in 1080p Full HD (1920 x 1080 vs D90’s 1280 x 720) pixels resolution. That said both SLR cameras are the first Digital SLR to even do so the consumer market (record video), both are able to record in HD resolutions and both uses an high end CMOS image sensors. Live View composing is available for both cameras other that the typical optical viewfinder of course.

Also note the D90 CANNOT autofocus (AF) in movie mode (video recording) only BEFORE you enter movie mode you can set AF. While the EOS 5D Mark II is able to do so in both Before and during movie mode (a bit awkwardly without a tripod support). Both DSLR can focus manually (MF) during movie mode. While both DSLR can record audio in movie mode they can only record in Monaural from the built-in microphone.

The EOS 5D Mark II image sensor is 21.1 Megapixel with a 3.0-inch 920,000 pixels TFT LCD camera screen while the D90 utilize a 12.9 megapixel image sensor with also a 3.0-inch 920,000 pixel TFT-LCD screen. The EOS 5D Mark II compared to the D90 is full frame sensor while the D90 uses an APS-C sized sensor so its really no real direct comparison between those two since full frame is a different league altogether.

Do note also the Panasonic Lumix G1 is another (non-DSLR) prosumer camera that is able to record video and still images with interchangeable lenses added it has an Electronic viewfinder (EVF) instead of an optical viewfinder (OVF). However it cannot shoot HD Video only SD.
