How do I shoot with my Panasonic DVX100 video camera at maximum resolution?

I know this camera can get better footage than I’ve been getting. My footage is grainy and brown-yellowish in color. I tried setting the tape speed on “sp” but that doesn’t change much.

First off, your tape speed should always be “SP” not “LP”.

To fix “grainy” footage, you need to make sure you’re shooting with as little gain as possible, and under most normally lit conditions it should be set to -2dB.

The yellow tinge is probably due to incorrect white balance settings. For example, if you have your white balance preset to Daylight (5600K) and shoot indoors under normal incandescent lighting you’ll see a yellowish orangish cast to the entire picture. If shooting under these conditions change your white balance to either 3200K or use a custom white balance on a gray card or white sheet of paper (or lightly colored cards if you want to customize the balance.

Also play with the Cine-Gamma settings to see which you like the best.
