Can the Canon Ixus 850 camera last a whole day of vigorous photo-taking on just one fully-charged battery?

Owners of Canon Ixus 850 pls! Thks. My friend lent me this camera and I’m surprised it only comes with one lithium-ion rechargeable battery. My family’s Panasonic Lumix FX9 comes with 2 and I always had to use both batteries to last me a whole day of phototaking before recharging at night.

You have raised a good point.

While the Li-ion rechargeable battery is the state of the art battery and has the longest lasting charge, how long it will last has more to do with the camera it is being used in (large LCD’s and using flash will deplete the stored energy in any battery) and how well you conserve the battery power when using the camera (keep it shut off when not in use, use the viewfinder, not the LCD when composing the shot, use the flash as little as possible and refrain from showing off your work using the LCD)

Most P&S cameras can shoot at least 150 shots per charge … many can shoot over 250. Some DSLR’s can shoot over 1000 shots on a fully charged battery.

It does in the end come down to energy management
