Panasonic Lumix DMC FT1/FS1…can it go to the snow?

Hi there! I really want one of the new “everything proof” cameras. I’m going skiing and it would be cool to have a camera with me. I noticed however that the Panasonic Lumix isn’t freezeproof whereas the Canon Powershot D10 is. Although I really wanted the Lumix because it’s not so bulky and my mum won’t buy the bulki Canon.

So my question is: can the Panasonic Lumix withstand below freezing temperatures? (I once took a normal Olmypus camera to the mountains and it was fine so that’s why I thought the Panasonic would be okay, but just wondering what other people’s opinions are)

Also another question: what is the new Olympus Mju Tough 6010 like? I know the previous Olympus ones were just shockingly bad but I’m wondering if they’ve improved their game since then.

The Lumix probably cannot withstand very very cold conditions. It says on their website that you cannot leave under low temperature in the cold climate, or where the temperature is above 40°C for a long period of time.
