I need help figuring out what digital camera to buy.?
I asked before, and got some good answers, but I’m going to revise my question.
I am an amateur photographer being held back by my crappy Ricoh Caplio RR30. Seriously, it sucks.

It’s only 3.2 megapixels and 3x optical zoom, not good enough to do what I take pics of. (Which are action shots of running horses and moving vehicles… etc.)
I need an upgrade, wouldn’t you agree?
So, I admit I don’t know much about the really technical details about cameras, but I am a really fast learner, so I would be able to figure out the camera. I know I want at least 6 megapixels, and something over 8 or 10x optical zoom would be nice. And it needs to have a fast shutter speed and be good at taking action shots.
Now here’s the problem. The price-tag. I’m looking for something under $350 or so. I was looking at the Canon S3 IS.
Any other suggestions or ideas? Thnx!
I consider myself a bit of an amateur photgographer myself and have looked at many makes and models. What I am about to say is my personal opinion only. IF there are people out there who really know their stuff I would like to hear what they think about this question as well.
I think for what you want vs the price tag is a pretty good buy. I am assuming that it is in USD $350? For the specs, I think you will get great shots of moving objects – especially with image stabiliser feature. Personally though, at maximum zoom, I am still not totally convinced about getting the photo real sharp.
No matter what people say and what our collective opinion is here on Y!A, the moment you buy the camera – no matter what it is – there will be a new model released which will make you think “Oh! If only I wait for that one!”
